Arts with a Purpose

This Virtual Book Club event will be a discussion between Terry Gilbert and attorney Kimberly Kendall Corral. Trying Times recounts Gilbert’s 50-year struggle as a people’s lawyer. Gilbert puts his cases in historical context and demonstrates that even losing a case can move public opinion in the direction of equity. Written with Carlo Wolff, Gilbert’s memoir attests to the two Americas that we inhabit: one for the wealthy and powerful and the other for minorities and the poor.

Cleveland lawyer and Miami alum, Terry Gilbert ‘70, talked with former journalist and Miami faculty member, Mark Curnutte, about his experience of pursuing equal rights and justice for the marginalized and disenfranchised through more than four decades as a civil rights attorney.

Official Book Launch at Cleveland Marshall

Cleveland State University Cleveland-Marshall College of Law partnered with Act 3 publishers to host the official launch party for CSU C|M|LAW alumnus and Hall of Fame Member Terry Gilbert’s book, Trying Times. CSU C|M|LAW Dean and Dean and Joseph C. Hostetler-BakerHostetler Chair in Law Lee Fisher moderated a conversation with Terry Gilbert and co-author Carlo Wolff as well as with Terry’s longtime law partner Gordon Friedman. This virtual event included a book giveaway, videos and a reading by Carlo Wolff.
